A goblin is a monstrous creature from European folklore, first attested in stories from the Middle Ages. They are ascribed various and conflicting abilities, temperaments and appearances depending on the story and country of origin. They are almost always mischievous or outright malicious, and greedy, especially for gold and jewelry. They often have magical abilities similar to a fairy or demon. Similar creatures include brownies, dwarfs, duendes, gnomes, imps, and kobolds.
Another classic fantasy creature.
Goblins are mostly seen in fantasy settings, but are adaptable into almost any setting by equipping them accordingly. Maybe goblin space pirates with laser pistols?
They are almost always small and grotesque.
Small (2 1/2 ft base)
Perks & Flaws
Goblin are very resourceful when it comes to acquiring items that have been "misplaced" by others. For this reason, most goblins will have the Scavenger perk. A goblin's obsession with gold and jewelry make the Greedy flaw a perfect fit.
Goals, Beliefs, Instincts, Motivations
A goblin's long term goal is to accomplish a series of short term goals. 1. Get gold and jewelry 2. Get more gold and jewelry 3. Start back at #1
Goblins are easily impressed by things that they do not understand. An unknown creature may be mistaken for a god, while a lone wilderness road sign may be viewed as a message from the gods. Goblins may have beliefs that are considered humorous and simple-minded to others. Nevertheless, they are very serious about their superstitions.
Goblins instinctively like to stay hidden. When attacking, they generally spring out of hiding to attack enemies before rushing right back to cover.
Goblins are motivated by curiosity and greed.
